Is there a known dietry or nutrional insufficiency related to melasma? I would appreciate any advice regarding diet, vitamins or holistic therapy for this condition

A studied and useful treatment is vitamin C lotion. It would have to compounded since you need 10% vitamin C in the lotion. It should work well.. Another patient of mine used carnosine with some success. Denise Clark, ND |

I do not know of any specific nutritional deficiency for melasma. However, skin conditions in general are helped by increasing the amount of antioxidents in the diet. Generally, in the form of fruits and vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts. I encourage people to consider whole food supplementation. The one I use is Juice Plus. Most people see improvement in their skin within 4 months. Feel free to see my website for more information. www.holisticcareapproach.com Take Care, Barb |
