The human body is a remarkable organisation of intelligent functions, and it will intelligently try to achieve an optimal balance.  Problems in the body and mind can occur due to environmental, nutritional, genetic factors, or can be caused by injury, stress, emotions, and many other factors.  Bowen, NST and Smart Bowen all aim to encourage the body to regain balance and health, by a series of gentle and precise movements of muscles, tendons and ligaments on specific areas of the body.  These moves are made using fingers and thumbs rolling gently over muscles, tendons and ligaments.
The technique is safe for all ages, non-manipulative, and very relaxing, and can achieve remarkable results for many conditions in a relatively short time.

Originating from the life's work of the Australian bodywork and osteopathic genius Tom Bowen 1916-1982.  NST is a powerful and accurate interpretation of his Advanced Principles, completely unique in its construction, style and  philosophy.

Bowen, who was renowned for his ongoing and exceptional record of working with some 13,000 individuals per year, had an almost 100% success rate.

Developed between 1991 and 1995 by world renowned health practitioner, teacher and lecturer, Michael J. Nixon-Livy from Australia, NST has been specifically crafted to provide the same dependable level of health care, that Bowen himself was able to provide.

Brian Smart, who has also pioneered a gentle form of lymphatic drainage, and remedial treatments for injuries, has made further developments. Brian's work is also derived from the work of Tom Bowen and his assistants.
