As many move toward this in-demand field, it's important to discover the many career choices that await. Some careers only require a couple months training (CNA/Med Tech), while others require advanced degrees and residencies. Whatever your interests, chances are there is a career in this diverse employment setting. While all jobs are important, here is a highlight of some ever-changing vocations to consider.

Nurse

An occupation that garners dignity and respect, nursing offers many viable options for a lifelong, rewarding career. Many specialties come with this occupation, such as elder care, cardiology, psychiatry or maternal nursing. Nurses are in demand across the country and have a wide array of work locations (i.e., hospital, clinic, home care) to choose from.

Psychologist

An integral part of the medical team, a psychologist helps maintain a patient's mental health. By working one on one with patients, they help with parenting and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and many others. Also, they perform tests, behavioral analysis, and research in addition to direct patient care. They also need stellar communication and rapport building skills in order to build trust with their clients.

Vascular Specialist

One of the primary professionals at a vein center, is a vascular specialist that is a board certified surgeon who performs both invasive and non-invasive procedures of the veins, arteries, and lymphatic systems. Some professionals, like those at Ivein treatment center Provo, Utah, know how important it is to keep these systems working together correctly. They are able to diagnose and treat many ailments such as vascular aneurysms, stroke, venous ulcers and peripheral artery disease.

Respiratory Therapist

Helping people breathe easier is a respiratory therapist’s main function. A vitally important part of any healthcare team, they assist people with chronic diseases such as emphysema, bronchitis, asthma, and lung cancer. Trained to handle crisis breathing situations, they monitor ventilators and oxygen supply as well as performing tests to determine lung function and capacity.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

The imaging equipment a sonographer uses directs sound waves to view the inner workings of the human body. The training they receive enables them to take echocardiograms, ultrasounds, and sonograms. This helps physicians diagnose and treat various medical conditions involving the heart, lung, veins, abdomen, breasts and also pregnancy. Using this technology, diseases can be discovered even before the patient feels symptoms.

Healthcare providers work endlessly to ensure optimal health for their patients. It takes many people to see to it that a person is healthy. From the initial appointment, lab tests, follow-up, medications and therapy, our health is an ongoing task which takes many people to accomplish.
