Congratulations! If you're reading this, it means you or someone dear to you has decided to take a bold step to recovery by getting admitted in one of the drug rehab facilities near you. The fact that you're reading this piece shows that you're not yet sure which type of facility will be most suitable for you. Here in, you'll learn the types of facilities available and how you can pick the right one for you.

What Are The Different Types Of Drug Rehab Facilities Available?

Most times, alcohol rehab facilities base their programs on the 12-step treatment model. The 12-step program is one of the most common addiction programs in the world. It relies on a series of 12 steps aimed at guiding a person from substance abuse to recovery. When this program is combined with other forms of treatment, the chances of getting sober and staying sober increase greatly.

1. Inpatient Drug Treatment Facilities

Inpatient drug treatment facilities are also known as residential treatment facilities. In these facilities, individuals living with addiction are admitted into the premises for a period ranging between 30 and 90 days. During this period, they undergo extensive treatment which usually includes:

  • Detoxification

Detoxification can take place within a hospital setting in the rehab center and it varies from 7 to 10 days. During this time, all traces of the substance are flushed out of the system. Withdrawal is usually obvious and potentially dangerous during this period so it is done with professional supervision.

  • Counseling

After detoxification, outpatient drug and alcohol facilities organize counseling. It can be individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, etc. The goal is to help teach the person in recovery to make better life decisions after the program is complete. It is typically combined with other treatment types or followup support. Most times, counseling continues long after the completion of a rehab program.

2. Outpatient Drug Treatment Facilities

While these treatment facilities render identical services to the inpatient treatment facilities, the need for admission is eliminated. The individual will be required to go to the treatment center on specific days until the treatment is complete. While it is effective, it isn't as effective as the inpatient treatment option.

3. Holistic Therapy Treatment Facilities

These facilities provide treatment for the mind, spirit, and body of the individual. These facilities are becoming more popular every day because they help patients stay sober long-term. It includes treatment like acupuncture, yoga, deep tissue massage, etc. The goal is to make the individual whole.

4. Cognitive Behavioral Treatment Facilities

These facilities add cognitive behavioral therapy to their overall treatment program for more efficiency. The therapy teaches the individual short-term coping mechanism and long-term coping mechanism that can aid recovery and long-term sobriety. Not every treatment facility offers this therapy so make sure you confirm before you enroll.

5. Dual-diagnosis Treatment Facilities

Most times people start abusing substances because they are trying to suppress a mental illness like depression, anxiety, etc. The dual-diagnosis therapy is aimed that treating people with the co-occurring disorder. It doesn't just treat the addiction but it treats the underlying cause of the addiction which is the mental illness. This kind of therapy makes long-term sobriety more likely.

6. Sober Living Homes

The sober living home is made up of a group of recovering addicts who stay together to provide mental and emotional support for each other. The environment is typically free from drugs and alcohol. This kind of treatment is recommended for those who have finished the residential treatment program but are still at risk of relapsing.

These are the types of drug rehab facilities available for people living with addiction. The one you choose will depend on several factors but it's always a good idea to consult a professional before making a decision.
