Association Info
The British Chiropody and Podiatry Association is the largest body for qualified chiropodists in the United Kingdom, established late 1959, in conjunction with the Open College of Podiatry (formerly The SMAE Institute) which was established in 1919.
The body controls the professional qualifications of Chiropodists in the Association who work extensively in the private sector, and all members have to work to a strict code of practice. The Association regularly produces useful fact sheets relating to diseases associated with the feet, namely Diabetes Mellitus. At present there are four fact sheets:
- Footcare for Diabetic Patients
- All You Need to Know About Verruca
- Looking After Your Feet
- Footcare for the Elderly.
All the members carry full professional indemnity insurance and the British Chiropody and Podiatry Association is able to provide background information on chiropody and foot problems for journalists. Contact: M. Batt, President; M.G. Paynton, Chairman of Council, 01295 273073
