In my work I have found that people suffering from (osteo) arthritis benefit enormously by cutting out wheat from their diet - initially just for a 6 week period. It is important that you replace this with something - either rice cakes, rye bread, wheat free bread, oat cakes etc - some of these things are an acquired taste. I have to admit I dont have experience of this with sufferers of rheumatoid arthritis - this doesnt mean it wont help, just that I havent observed it myself. Obviously you can establish whether this would benefit you by visiting a local Kinesiologist as there may be other foods which may be harmful to you as an individual and affecting your pain.
Additionally if you can get hold of some Glucosamine supplements these have been proven very helpful. The best mixture is Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM. I have attached a web link with information: http://www.painclinic.org/jointpain-glucosamine.htm
As always I recommend that you speak to your GP to ensure that these will not interfere with your medication.
I hope this helps.
Many of my clients experienced the same difficulties, particularly because once your movement starts to go with the Arthritis pain and inflammation, other parts of your body also become affected. One particular client prompted me to search for an effective natural alternative, and, after a lot of time and research I found Cortaflex. Cortaflex was originally designed for the Equine market but has since developed Human varieties. It's a completely natural supplement containing the smaller particles that make up Glucosamine and Chondroitin which means they are more easily absorbed. The stronger of the two supplements, Cortaflex HA, also includes Hyaluronic Acid which is a key component to Synovial fluid that helps to keep the joints supple and mobile. For my client it worked a treat. Her movement improved so dramatically that she was able to walk unaided for the first time in years. Most other clients that have tried Cortaflex HA have had similar results and they often remark how comforting it is that they can take a natural approach. Another natural approach that has worked for other clients, is to try is Manuka Honey from New Zealand. Its a natural honey made from the Manuka Bush (from the same family as the Australian Tea Tree) which has amazing healing properties. The naturally active enzymes within the honey have potent anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which help to reduce the inflammation of the joints and therefore decrease the pain. It is also good at getting rid of toxins, and balancing out any imbalances within your stomach and digestion system. It should be said though that although neither myself or any of my clients have experienced any side effects or reactions with other medications from either of these natural products, I agree with Linda that you should check with your GP to ensure that they will not interfere with any medication you may be taking.
