BCOM offers the most advanced osteopathic-research facilities in Europe , being the only specialist college to provide cutting-edge on-site human-performance and hydrotherapy laboratory facilities. Founder of the International Conference on Advances in Osteopathic Research (ICAOR), BCOM fosters a strong research environment that enables advances to be disseminated more generally. It also works to instil a research ethos into BCOM graduates, increasing the clinical knowledge base and providing Continuing Professional Development. In addition, BCOM has some of Europe ’s best osteopathic teaching facilities, thanks to a £1m extension to its Frazer House site in 2004.
BCOM is particularly regarded for its uniquely holistic or naturopathic approach to osteopathic care and is not only accredited by the UK ’s General Osteopathic Council but its courses are also accredited by the General Council and Register of Naturopaths. BCOM works hard at promoting the philosophy, science and clinical application of holistic osteopathy and naturopathy within the UK and throughout the international community. BCOM clinics also offer the highest standards of clinical practice, treating patients with an array of complaints – from diagnosis of osteoporosis in our bone scanning clinic to the treatment of arthritic pain, minor sports injuries, lumabgo, sciatica, fibromyalgia and backache to allergies. There is even the naturopathic and osteopathic care of expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy. BCOM’s undergraduate and postgraduate students are an integral part of its teaching and research clinics.
Most BCOM undergraduates enrol on its Masters in Osteopathy degree, a four-year integrated undergraduate masters degree, designed to take osteopathic students from ordinary undergraduate enrolment into Year 1 right through to masters-level research and clinical expertise at the end of Year 4. Integrated masters degrees are innovative programmes increasingly sought after in high-level professional disciplines.
