While paid search advertising can be an effective means of targeting an audience, organic search optimization greatly increases the chances of success for any website. Fundamentally, there are two parts of SE optimization. The first is on-page optimization, where we research specific keywords, analyze the top competitors for those keywords and implement the keywords better into your site. This will most likely include content changes to your homepage, as ideally you need at least 200 words of content on your home page. The second is off-page optimization, which is primarily link building and submitting articles to article directories. This is ongoing, especially the link building, as google puts a lot of weight on how many quality sites out there are linking to yours. This is how the google ‘PageRank’ is determined.

Now, you do need to know that although on-page optimization is important and should always be done, it is the off-page optimization that will bring huge jumps in SE rankings and ultimately increasing your website traffic. To get started we usually have a consultation to determine the following:

 

1.       3 or 4 keywords/keyphrases that you would want to be top in google rankings. Meaning, in your opinion, what would joe bloggs be searching for that he can definitely find at www.yourwebsite.com and be your customer?

2.   Who are your known competitors? would need to know website URLs to carry out site analysis.

3.   Site purpose: what actions are desired of your site's visiors? (download file, buy product, sign up for newsletter etc...)

4.   Access to your webstats, either by URL or a login, or whatever works best. This is needed so that I know exactly how much traffic you are getting and can plan goals on what to attain. Depending on what stats program you have we can also see exactly how much traffic is coming from which search engines and what phrases are used to find you. AWstats is good for this. If you don’t have this and are interested in having it, you could contact your site host, or we may even be able to put it on for you, but would need access to the server your site is on.
