Valuable CPD training for qualified aromatherapists with Julie Duffy, senior lecturer, Clinical Aromatherapy, on the BSc (Hons) Complementary Therapies at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
The aim of this course is to build therapist confidence in using essential oils to treat pregnant women. Many therapists are wary of this area, but a realistic approach, taking into account relevant research, makes this such a rewarding treatment to give. It may also set therapists apart from others in their area.
To attend this course you must be a qualified Aromatherapist. The day will cover:
• Benefits of Aromatherapy in pregnancy and childbirth
• Relevant research regarding Aromatherapy in pregnancy and childbirth
• Ethical and professional considerations
• Common conditions associated with pregnancy
• Essential oils suitable to treat many of these conditions
• Essential oils considered safe to use in pregnancy
• Dilutions and other safety considerations
• Contra –indications to Aromatherapy during pregnancy
• Essential oils and their use during childbirth
Please note: Massage positions and techniques for pregnancy massage are taught on the Massage for Pregnancy and Childbirth course.
