Pregnancy Massage

A one-day course for health professionals that will enhance care of the pregnant and antenatal woman.  The course is taught by a massage specialist who has experience and practice in this area, and the agenda for the day is as follows:

9.15am            Registration and coffee

9.30am            An introduction to the benefits of massage

10.00am            A demonstration of the massage strokes used in ante and post natal care

10.30am            Coffee break

10.45am            Practical demonstration of massage suitable for antenatal care, including positioning the client, areas to be massaged, and massage techniques that can be taught to a birth-partner for use during the later stages of pregnancy and labour.  Techniques to help avoid stretch marks are also taught.

12.15pm           Lunch

1.15pm             Students practice the massage and instruction of massage, with detailed supervision from the tutor

3.15pm             Tea break

3.30pm             Massage moves for postnatal care, to improve muscle tone and circulation and promote healing are demonstrated and practiced.

4.30pm             Self help techniques are discussed for pregnant and post natal conditions.

5.00pm             Questions and goodbyes
