Being Sound day workshop
In simple terms voicework is the use of vocal sound and singing as therapy. We work to express ourselves better through our voices, release emotional blocks and understand how the voice depends on body, breath, emotion and psyche.
Voicework is for anyone who wants to connect with his or her true voice. People who have never been 'good' singers are often surprised to find themselves improvising beautiful harmonies and discovering more power and resonance in their voice than they ever thought possible. People overcome fears about public speaking, release tensions and locked patterns in the body, get more social confidence, become comfortable improvising 'in the moment', and, of course, have fun!
The workshop will include: working with the breath, movement to free the body, silent moments and listening, singing, toning and overtones, rhythm and improvisation, free expression of voice - and maybe a 'sound bath'.
Working with your voice can be a really powerful experience and can have dramatic effects on your whole life. The voice can be affected while we are growing up by overt or hidden messages (being made to believe that your voice is not beautiful, being afraid to express yourself, needing to keep a painful secret, suppressing ‘unacceptable emotions', etc). We each have a beautiful voice - and rediscovering this natural voice is linked to rediscovering your real self!
