Losing weight is a tough job and it is easy to get discouraged when positive results are not forthcoming. Researchers have worked hard to find viable options for weight loss, or diet pills, may just be that extra edge one needs to find success in their weight loss attempts.

Phentermine falls under a category of drugs called sympathomimetic amines, which are also known as "anorexigenic" drugs. Phentermine increases heart rate and blood pressure, and decreases appetite by stimulating the hypothalamus gland in the central nervous system. This is the gland that regulates bodily functions like sleep cycles, temperature, appetite, etc.

Almost 50% of weight loss prescriptions in the US contain Phentermine as the primary appetite suppressant. The reasons for this are two-fold. Phentermine is a tried and tested drug which first received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval as an appetite suppressant in 1959. It is well priced against other major FDA-approved diet pills like Meridia and Xenical. When used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise, Phentermine has shown p results.

In the past, Phentermine was used in combination with other drugs like Fenfluramine (Fen-Phen) and Dexfenfluramine (Redux-Phen). While all the drugs, individually, were FDA approved, the cocktail was never approved by FDA. Such usage was called off-label. Because of striking results, both combos became instant successes; though neither was tested for safety. When a spate of heart valve disorders were traced back to Fen-Phen and Redux-Phen users, and even those who had used only Fenfluramine or Dexfenfluramine, FDA investigated and called for the withdrawal of these two drugs. Phentermine users, however, never reported health problems and the drug wasn't ever called for withdrawal by FDA.

Phentermine is sold under brand names, such as Ionamin, Adipex-P, and so on. It is also available as a generic medication. It can be purchased from pharmacies or online. Online pharmacies stock Phentermine for much lower prices. Weight loss pill Phentermine is available in three forms – tablets, capsules and resin capsules. Consult your physician to determine if Phentermine works for you.

Phentermine is a tried and tested medicine which is an approved appetite suppressant. If you are tired and disheartened by past failures of your weight loss regimens, try incorporating a weight loss pill like Phentermine into your daily life. It may be just the edge you need to make your dreams of a leaner, healthier self come true.
