Reiki is an art of healing and being healed. It's the source for well being and maintaining good health. Being profound yet subtle, it can restore the receiver's inner balance mentally, physically and emotionally.

Reiki is natural, nurturing and holistic. It compliments all appropriate therapeutic disciplines, complementary and orthodox medicine. It can be a stand-alone treatment or part of a therapeutic process and results can be noticeably significant or subtly moulding, as needed by each receiver.

Reiki is a Japanese word for 'Universal Energy', which everyone from the very young to the exceptionally mature can thrive upon. It can guide individuals from all walks of life onto their own path of personal growth.

Reiki's energy acts like radio waves, usually they cannot be touched, seen or heard unless tuned into its transmitter. Reiki treatments are a form of hands-on therapeutic approach, safe to receive and transmit.

What can Reiki treat or how it works?

Reiki treats the origins of an illness and its symptoms. Other treatments or medications do not adversely react with Reiki. Once the healing process begins, it may bring to the surface emotional and physical issues so they may be released safely and gently. After treatment it's quite common to feel unusually calm, relaxed or even very energised.

Reiki supports the individual while aiding self-acceptance, as the person works through their issues. Reiki works positively even if for a short while things might feel a little upsetting.

Any side effects?

YES!!! Reiki's positive effects can be experienced from the very first session. This healing energy can only be applied positively.

What can be experienced?

Usually the first treatment is most profound and well-being can be noticed right from the outset. Every session is experienced differently even by the same person, regardless of whether they wish to resolve a health issue or an emotional problem. I like hearing practitioners trying to explain what can Reiki treat or how it works and not too long ago I was doing the same. Now when asked I say: Reiki is life enhancing and the best way to explain this is to experience its healing properties.

Today, most of us lead busy lives and live in demanding or stressful environments. Some people do well with moderate stress levels and it may even give them a buzz. Over longer periods however, constant stress or pressure might reek havoc and become too much to face. If this is your life's pattern, then Reiki can be very supportive for you.

The following represent a partial listing of goals one can accomplish through Reiki, either as stand alone healing or a combination of processes:

  • Relaxes you when you are stressed
  • Brings about deep comfort
  • Centres your thoughts when you feel confused
  • Energises you when you are drained
  • Calms you when you feel frightened
  • Focuses your mind and helps you solve problems
  • Relieves aches and pains
  • Accelerates natural healing of wounds
  • Improves general health and well-being
  • Gradually it can clear up chronic problems
  • Can prevent the development of disease
  • Detoxifies the body
  • Dissolves energy blockages
  • Can be balancing and grounding at all levels of being
  • Releases emotional wounds
  • Increases the vibrational frequency of the body, mind and emotions
  • Helps change negative conditioning and behaviour
  • The energy of Reiki can aid or advance intuitive awareness and spiritual self development
However, this list cannot include all the problems or challenges Reiki can support

Can Reiki be combined with other treatments?

Reiki is interacting in complementary and complimentary ways with all other treatments! Reiki treats the origins of an illness and its symptoms. It is effective, non-addictive and it is impossible to over-dose with this healing energy.

From the very first treatment, healing might have a humble beginning or be an outstanding experience, but you need not be unwell or ill to benefit from healing.

Do not assume that your concerns or dilemmas are too trivial or unimportant. It is not for others to agree or validate these matters! Your life's experiences are, as you perceive them to be. Only you can decide to do something to make your life fulfilling.

A Reiki session often lasts 60 minutes.

Finding a Reiki practitioner?

Although there are only three Degrees of Reiki training, courses range from two days for each degree to a one day workshop for all three levels.

In my opinion it is always useful to ask questions about the extent of a Reiki practitioner's training, before making an appointment. Other qualifications are not absolute guarantees of a practitioner's competence. However, it is prudent to choose a practitioner who may also have other qualifications such as Counselling, Hypnotherapy, Homoeopathy, Acupuncture, Osteopathy or Herbalism since their training provider tends to be regulated by a professional body.
