Reiki is healing using universal energy. It is a system of great ease but has enormous power. A Reiki healer will channel energy through their hands and the patient uses that energy where it is needed.

Reiki is for everyone and can be learned by all those who wish to heal themselves and others. With Reiki energy we can pursue physical, emotional and spiritual growth and well being. It is not just for others but also for us to heal ourselves.

A Reiki healing normally lasts from half an hour to an hour. During which time you will remain fully clothed and receive the energy. You may be lying down or seated. You may feel and pleasant warmth or coolness or even tingling and the session should be very relaxing.

Reiki is usually learnt in three stages or levels. These gradually attune the recipient of the teaching and attunements to their own healing abilities.

In the first level the attunement helps to make you aware of the universal force and how it can be used to heal all things. In the months following the Reiki initiation your physical and emotional health can often change for the better.

The second level increases the sensitivity and the ability to channel the energy and also teaches how to send healing at a distance. This is also the time when the sacred symbols are introduced and you begin to feel and use their energies.

What is a Reiki Master?

A master is someone who has mastered the discipline and can now teach and pass on the attunements. This is means that as a master you will be able spread the knowledge of Reiki to others so that they may in heal more people. These powerful attunements also increase the level of channelling and it can reach an even higher level.

What is a Reiki Attunement?

When you receive a Reiki attunement the Reiki Master will draw special symbols into some of your chakras (energy centres). This will help you to channel the energy more freely.

How do I find a teacher?

You have already taken the first step to finding your teacher by looking at this web site. You have shown interest. Now you have to look for a teacher in the directory or maybe a friend can recommend someone. Remember that this is a great step forward in your development and your teacher must be right for you. They need not necessarily be in your immediate area. It is worth travelling to find the right teacher. Telephone or email several masters and talk to them about their courses and what you should expect to learn from them. Take time to find the right person. You will know who is right for you.

Can Reiki harm me?

No. Reiki can do no harm. It is a powerful healing force. However sometimes after a healing or an attunement you may experience a clearing process. This is normal and is getting rid of energies that you not need anymore.

Does the healer have to put their hands on me?

No it is not necessary for the healer to touch the patient. Some forms of healing are Hands-on but with Reiki it is not necessary to touch the patient. Some forms of Reiki use the hands-on approach. There is no right or wrong way, if you do not want hands-on say so. The energy will still work and is often more powerful.
