What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word representing Universal Life Energy, the energy which is all around us. Reiki, when activated and applied for purposes of healing, addresses body, mind and spirit. It accelerates the body's ability to heal physical ailments and opens the mind and spirit to the cause of disease and pain, the necessity for taking responsibility for one's life and the joys of balanced wellness. 

Healing through touch is the oldest and simplest of all the therapies available to us. The act of laying on of hands to comfort, heal and relieve pain conveys warmth, caring and affection. It is an act of love and requires no special faith or belief. Reiki is used by people of many faiths and religions.

In the western world our healing skills have been neglected or forgotten and we have been giving up the power to heal ourselves. At a time when the pace of life is becoming faster and demands on our bodies becoming greater, many of the ancient natural healing therapies are being rediscovered.

Seichem Reiki

Seichem (pronounced Say-Keem) adds to the earth elemental healing ray of Reiki healing rays associated with all the other elements.

• The fire element is represented by Sakara, an energy that works on the electro-magnetic field surrounding the body.

• Sophi-El represents the elements of water. Water is associated with the emotions and opens the heart to feel love and compassion

• The air and spirit elements are combined in a two-fold ray called Angelic light. Air is associated with communication.

All of these elemental rays work individually or together depending on the needs of the person receiving the treatment. When all four rays are working together the negative energy has nowhere to hide.

Attunement

Attunements are at the very core of Reiki; they are very precise ceremonies which can only be performed by a Reiki master. During the ceremony the Reiki Master opens up the healing abilities that are in us all, and uses special Reiki symbols to ensure those abilities are permanent.

Level I Workshop

This gives you the ability to treat yourself and others. The workshop is a combination of lecture, discussion and experience. During the weekend you will learn about:-

• The history of Reiki, Seichem and Tera Mai;

• The elemental healing rays;

• Self Treatment;

• Treating Others;

• Chakra Balancing;

• The Violet Flame

Course Lecturer

The course is taught by Reiki Master Kathy Lockyear. Kathy is a Reiki Master in the Dr Usui traditional Reiki and the Tera-Mai Seichem Reiki healing system developed by Kathleen Milner.  

Course Location

Hilldene Centre, West End, Southampton

Timescales

The course is carried out over a weekend. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday for registration with a start time of 10 a.m. The course finishes at 4 p.m. with a 45 minute lunch break. There are local shops although many students prefer to bring their own packed lunch. Complementary tea, coffee and herbal teas are available throughout the day.

This course is designed for anyone who would like to be attuned to this healing energy.You do not need to be a therapist or have any specific experience to receive this attunement.
