Usually, various modern medical and alternative sources suggest that zinc, arginine and protein intakes are the main factors in fertility of males. However, body oxygenation plays even a more important role.
Oxygen content in tissues can be found using a simple stress-free breath holding time test. (The person exhales normally and, using a watch or clock, measures their own breath holding time in seconds, but only until first discomfort. The test should not change your breathing and cause any stress.)
About a hundred years ago, ordinary people had up to 40-60 s of oxygen in their bodies and daily sexual activity in males was normal.
Oxygenation of modern healthy males is about twice less (about 20-30 s) and they often have reduced sperm count and about 2-3 sexual intercourses per week.
Patients with chronic diseases (heart disease, diabetes, cancer, asthma, sinusitis or nasal congestion, etc.) have less than 20 s of oxygen in their bodies and many of them suffer from erectile dysfunction, early ejaculation, and other sex-related conditions. Sexual activity of these people is usually very limited.
For the severely sick and hospitalized patients (less then 10 s of oxygen), sexual activity, as well as physical exercise, can be fatal. They can consume grams of Zn, eat spoons of arginine and kilograms of protein every day, but no improvement in their sexual potency is expected if they do not increase their body oxygenation.
At the opposite end, as old hatha yoga manuscripts and practice of Russian doctors practicing the Buteyko self-oxygenation method, sexual vigour in males and even an ability to control ejaculation come when the oxygenation is about 3 minutes.
From the practical viewpoint, body oxygenation depends on one factor only: the breathing pattern of the person. If breathing is deep and frequent (as we see and hear in the sick), oxygenation is low. If breathing is invisible and inaudible (as in the healthy), body oxygenation is higher.
Normal breathing pattern (6 l of air per minute at rest for a 70 kg man) corresponds to 40 s of oxygen. The normal breathing frequency is about 10-12 breaths per minute. (You would need somebody else to ask to measure you frequency since it changes dramatically when we pay attention to our breathing.) If you learn how to breathe about 2 l/min at rest, with automatic breathing frequency about 3-4 breaths per minute (e.g., during sleep), then your body oxygenation will be about 3 minutes.
Among the crucial factors for better body oxygenation are: breathing only through the nose, especially at night and during all exercise; prevention of sleeping on one's back, a lot of physical activity with 100% nasal breathing, good posture, wholesome, preferably raw diet, hard beds, etc.
Better body oxygenation and lighter breathing are the main goals of the Buteyko self-oxygenation breathing method. However, Oxygen Remedy is a more effective way to get more oxygen in cells since it involves Buteyko lifestyle factors and using the Frolov breathing device for breathing exercises.
