Symptoms of OCD -

Intrusive thought about wellbeing of loved one which makes the person anxious.

The person has excessive fear about being contaminated by germs, dirt, etc.

To reduce this excessive anxiety the person makes habit of some behavior or action, which becomes repetitive later on.

The person has excessive ideas or focus on religion or morality.

The person cannot avoid the thought [intrusive] and continuously thinks about it though it becomes troublesome for him or her.

If the person even thought about stopping these thoughts and actions then he or she becomes extremely restless.

Repetitive act/behavior like counting/checking/washing, etc.

Tapping or repeating particular words or sentence/s.

Spending too much time in this repetitive behavior.

Functional impairment for other work or study due to this repetitive behavior.

Feeling excessively anxious or worried if the person missed one or two steps of action or counting and repeat again the whole thing. Otherwise the person becomes extremely restless.
OCD treatment -
Psychotherapy -
As in depression and anxiety disorders, psychotherapy is more effective in OCD than other treatments. There are two psychotherapies, which could help the person suffering from OCD, first is exposure therapy and the other is cognitive behavior therapy. The therapist uses these in a combination. Both these therapies help the person to work on these symptoms from the root cause of it. These psychotherapies work in individual counseling sessions.
Support group -
People suffering from OCD could get some help from support group. Support group is a concept where people with same disorder come and talk about their problems not only related to disorder and treatment but about coping with symptoms, social issues related to this disorder, etc. Support group helps people by suggesting some solutions to their problems and by giving mental and social support to the person.
Family therapy -
Like other mental illnesses the person with OCD could get help from his or her own family by getting the support of family members. Psycho-education of each family member about this disorder is an important part of family therapy. Family member get knowledge about the disorder and how to help the person in need. They also could help the person in crucial phase of relapse prevention.
So, these are OCD treatments from which you can get help for yourself or for your loved one. Before going for these treatments, you or your loved one should get through various psychological assessments to make sure about the disorder because correct treatment starts with correct diagnosis.
