LCTA - London College of Traditional Acupuncture
When LCTA was born in 1992, we envisaged courses to suit someone looking to change career, to make a difference and to put something back - that's exactly what we run!
We are one of most well-known and highly-respected colleges of Oriental medicine in the UK offering courses in acupuncture, tui na, Oriental herbal medicine, nutrition and qi gong as well as running a thriving Teaching Clinic.
As we have grown we have kept our relaxed and friendly atmosphere and our students really value our hands-on approach and inspiring, interactive teaching. Graduates say that our flexible courses make it easy to turn Chinese medicine into a rewarding and successful career. Training in Oriental medicine will be the most exciting, inspiring and life-changing thing you ever do.
At LCTA we integrate east with west so students on out undergraduate courses learn western medical sciences alongside Chinese medicine theory, including the well-known approaches of TCM and Five Elements. In the final year of our courses students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge, reflective practice and practical skills acquired through the course within a supervised clinical practice.
If you have already decided you want to train as a professional practitioner and you are new to the medical profession, you can start most of our fully-accredited courses without prior training.
We run undergraduate courses for beginners in:
Acupuncture
Tui Na Massage
If you are a qualified TCM practitioner you can study one of our part time postgraduate courses:
Oriental Herbal Medicine for TCM Practitioners
Tui Na Massage for TCM Practitioners
Nutrition for Healthcare Practitioners
If you are a qualified practitioner of conventional or complementary medicine, you may be eligible for:
Exemptions from some units
Nutrition for Healthcare Practitioners
If you are new to the subject we run regular courses in Qi Gong that will help you develop an understanding of qi. We also run regular study trips to China for final year students, graduates and practitioners to work in a Chinese TCM hospital in Hangzhou. Find out more
