Vitamins are organic compounds that help our body to perform various metabolic functions. Almost 47% of people in Australia use some kind of dietary supplement of which vitamins and minerals are the most popular. Just like any other medicine, vitamin supplements are to be taken in moderate amounts as advised by health experts.

Vitamins play an important role in breaking down micronutrients like carbohydrates, proteins, and fats and help the body to function. Those who may need vitamin supplements are pregnant women or lactating mothers, alcohol drinkers, and elderly people. This is one of the reasons why more and more Australians are turning towards traditional herbal medicines and naturopathy.

What is the needed daily dosage of Vitamins?

The recommended daily allowance (RDA) for vitamins and minerals is the average daily dosage that a person needs to maintain good health and prevent deficiencies. Health professionals recommend taking multivitamins at the dietary level instead of taking single nutrient supplements or high doses of multivitamins. There are different recommended dosages of vitamins and minerals for men and women.

Mentioned below is a list of Vitamins with their everyday recommended dosage.

The RDA of Vitamin A or retinol is 900 micrograms for men and 700 micrograms for women. It is found in dairy products and orange- or yellow-colored fruits and vegetables.

 Vitamin B

The RDA of Vitamin B3 (niacin or nicotinic acid) is 500 mg per day and for Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is 200 mg per day. Leafy green vegetables, whole grains, and animal proteins are rich sources of Vitamin B complex.
