According to government statistics about 1 in 3 women in the UK are suffering from obesity. Obesity can be caused for a number of reasons but one major cause is lack of physical activity. At the mention of exercise most people picture gruelling sessions at the gym or intense aerobics classes but it doesn't have to be this boring. Here Angie Weston, a top fitness model, bodybuilder and presenter of ‘Funky Fitness' on LA Muscle TV has put together the most fun ways that some of the fittest celebrities have been using that are bound to catch on in 2009...
ZUMBA
Created by Miami based choreographer and celebrity trainer Alberto ‘Beto' Perez, Zumba is a fun and exciting fusion of aerobics and Latin salsa dancing. These classes are designed to help achieve a toned and sculpted body in a fun and enjoyable way.

Angie says... Zumba is an ideal way to tone muscles and burn fat all at once. A one hour session consists of fast and slow Latin inspired rhythms that keep you engaged throughout.

SUSPENSION TRAINING SYSTEM aka BODY WEB
The design of this equipment is based on the powerful and strength building movements performed with Gymnastic Rings. The TRX Suspension Training unit is a portable, industrial-strength, nylon webbing system with handles, foot cradles and anchoring attachments. Suspended in mid air it combines movement with bodyweight training to work muscle groups across the entire body.
Celebrity fans include... Gwen Stefani, Amber Valetta, Ben Afflek.
Angie says... The Suspension Training System is an effective way to improve strength, balance, and flexibility while toning all the muscles in your body. KETTLEBELLS
Kettlebells originate from Russia, they bear an uncanny resemblance to a cannon ball with a handle. Recently, kettlebell training has been developed into a technical exercise programme that has become extremely popular amongst sportspeople and celebrities. The workout's consists of three essential lifts- swing, clean & jerk and snatch.
Celebrity fans include... Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel & Cameron Diaz
Angie says... Kettle bells unlike traditional weights allow for higher repetition and more movement across your total body. They are ideal for weight loss, muscle toning, cardio-vascular and strength improvement. The best thing about kettlebells is that you can workout whenever, wherever and for as long as you like. As they are easy to store, there is nothing to set up and your workout time can be as little as five minutes.
MARATHON TRAINING

It's ideal for losing weight, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol as well as improving your social life if done with friends or a partner. Best of all, if done for a charity...it's for a good cause!
