How to quit vaping – Direct from the vape shop

This might be controversial for me to write.

You’re probably not expecting the founder of Vape and Juice, an online vape shop to talk to you about how to quit vaping, but that’s what we are going to do here.

Vaping is one way to quit smoking

As an advocate of vaping as a way to quit smoking, we have always talked about electronic cigarettes as a form of harm reduction.

Harm reduction means very simply, reducing the risk of the dangers associated with smoking. What are those risks and who says a vape pen carries reduced risks?

So let’s start with the dangers to health of smoking:

  • Heart Disease
  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Lung Cancer
  • COPD
  • Cerebrovascular Disease (Injury to brain from damaged blood vessels)

Every year smoking kills close to 1 million people worldwide, that we know of. This doesn’t always account for those that have added damage to their body over a sustained period and then quit for many years. These dangers are created through the exposure to reduced levels of oxygen in the blood, lining of tar along the alveoli – the membranes that clean your lungs, and the inhalation of toxic material through combustion.

Unpopular Fact:

Tobacco as a plant is not in and of itself a dangerous thing. It’s the manner in which it is consumed. Burning tobacco, creates chemicals that we simply don’t have the capacity to process well. Mutation of cells can occur, which is what we call a Cancer.

So how is vaping harm reduction, isn’t that smoke too?

No, it’s actually vapour, created from close to boiling point levels of E-liquid, or what others know as Vape Juice. This means those toxins created from burning/combustion of a plant are not recreated with a vaporiser.

So does this mean, vaping is entirely safe? We don’t know that for sure and clearly only long term, decades of use would provide us with that information. What we do have to support the use as a smoking cessation product is Public Health England’s own statement:

“E cigarettes are 95% less harmful than smoking”NHS News

Added to that support is Cancer Research UK who released this statement:

“…while the long-term effects of e-cigarettes are unknown, the long-term harms of tobacco are indisputable, and e-cigarettes represent an opportunity for harm reduction.” Cancer Research UK

So if you are vaping how do you quit that too?

That’s the main event and as a vape shop owner it’s probably thought of as strange that I would talk about it. But it’s not a dirty subject, after all, I want to help people be rid of smoking habits. There are a number of tricks and techniques to bring yourself down the nicotine tree all the way to nicotine free vape juice and nothing. To that end, I’ve put together an infographic to highlight a few of those tips.

Enjoy the wonders of my limited design skills.

How long does it take to quit vaping?

Well it really depends a little on your resolve and how much it means to you. Like any pursuit, passion and desire plays a part. But if you are ready to start quitting the vaping too, then our tips above should make that possible for you.
