What is Colour Therapy?

Colour is everywhere! In the home, garden, neighborhood, the city and most brilliantly in the glorious elements, everything radiates colour. Colour Therapy is a vibration healing modality, meaning it utilizes the energies within living organisms such as plants, gem stones, crystals, water, sunlight and sound to enhance health, defeat disease and restore balance within the whole body.

Many practitioners use Colour Therapy in conjunction with other alternative medicine practices such as Aromatherapy, Massage Therapy, Reflexology and Yoga.

Colour is light with varying wavelengths and frequencies.

How can Colour Therapy help?

Sadly, our busy lives leave us often rushing through life leaving no time to embrace the colourful environment that is constantly around us. All colours have a unique frequency, wavelength and energy. Colour Therapy provides an opportunity to acknowledge the colours that we interact with daily and utilize their properties that correspond with cells and organs in the body to enhance health.

Disease is a sign that the body, mind and spirit are deficient in certain colours. As always lifestyle can cause the shortage or improper use of colour along with a person's environment or stress.

Meaning of Colours

Red is associated with Vitality, Energy, Courage, Power and Sexuality. Powerful in healing blood disease, circulation problems, increasing blood pressure, depression and enhancing confidence and willpower.

Orange is associated with Optimism, Independence and Happiness. Orange regulates circulation, metabolism, helps defeat chest and kidney diseases and it has an ability to energize.

Yellow is associated with Mental Ability, Increased Awareness, Wisdom and Clarity. Yellow is very effective in reliving depression and headaches, it has the ability to improve memory and awareness. It also stimulates appetite.

Green is associated with Growth, Healing and Calming. Green is the overall the color of healing. Green helps calm nerves, relax both mentally and physically, it promotes self control and harmony.

Blue is associated with Peace, Knowledge, Health and Faith. Blue lowers blood pressure, decreases respiration, helps induce sleep and enhances communication.

Indigo is associated with Intuition, Imagination, Understanding and Purification. Indigo helps ones connect to their spirituality and enhance creativity.

What to expect at a Colour Therapy consultation

A consultation will last from an hour to two hours. The therapist will endeavor to find out as much about your medical history, environment, lifestyle and life choices. Lots of questions will be asked to determine what frequencies and wavelengths you body needs to replenish balance. The Colour Therapist might use breathing exercises, crystals, silk scarves, colored water and coloured lights. Most Colour Therapists are self employed and work out of home for in an alternative medicine center, it is their plan to teach an awareness to utilize all colour throughout life.
