Ways To Make Your Self-Tan Last Longer

All of us want a beautiful summer glow, but this should never be a cause to subject your skin to any harmful UV rays or tanning beds, which will only damage your skin and cause detrimental illnesses. All of us love to have beautiful skin, that is tanned and glowing, but risking skin cancer and premature aging should not be results of having good skin. The best option is to opt to getting a self-tan done in the comfort of your home; and the only drawback of this option is that you have to keep doing it every few days, but this should not be a cause to stop you. If you want your self-tan to last longer than usual there are few things you can add to your regimen, to say hello to a longer lasting beautiful tan.

Shaving & Wax

Some of the most easiest ways to make sure your tan lasts for a longer period of time is to either wax, epilate or shave before applying the tan. What this will do is take off all the dead skin cells that are present on the top of your skin. If you wait to remove your hair after the application of your liquid gold oil it will only go to waste since it will result in the removal of the color as well. So it’s better to do it before the tanning process. Also, it is recommended that you remove your hair at least an hour before the next step and wash off your skin to make sure any residue is taken off so that it would not interfere with the tanner.

Exfoliate

Always make sure to exfoliate your skin before the tanning process. Your skin consists of old and dead skin cells which can be taken off with a mere wash or scrub, and what self-tanning does is stain the outer layer of the skin; if you put the tan on while the dead cells are still present on the skin, it will on result in the sells to slough off once you are done with the tan, causing the tan to wear off faster. This is why it is important to exfoliate and take off all the dead cells, thus resulting in longer-lasting tans.

Dry Skin

We normally apply moisturizer onto our skin when it is damp in order to retain hydration. But this should not be done; dampness is the enemy of any tanning lotion, so you should always make sure your skin is entirely dry before any product is applied on. Once you are completely dry, the tanning lotion can now be applied. Bring out your artistic side and make sure to spread the lotion evenly on your body while being conscious of the problematic areas.

Washing Your Hands

Even though you may be using a mitt to apply the product on to your skin, it is important that you wash your hands thoroughly after the application process. No matter how hard you try there will always be a way for your tan to seep into your palms, leaving stains the next morning.
