Pain the Neck: 4 Ways to Manage Chronic Back Pain

It is estimated that 70 percent of people will suffer from chronic back pain at some point. It is caused by poor posture, injury or an underlying medical condition. In many cases, neck pain can be managed with natural remedies.

Pilates

Pilates is a series of exercises that are designed to improve flexibility, strength and posture. There was a study done where people with chronic neck pain were asked to do Pilates with six weeks. The results of the study showed that the subjects had significant pain relief.

Stay Hydrated

The discs that are between the vertebrae require water in order to keep the spine in alignment. Every disc is made up of 80 percent water. If you drink plenty of water, then you will prevent your cervical discs from degenerating. This can help reduce neck pain.

Massage

Massaging your neck can help ease the tension in it. It also helps keep the joint limber, which can keep you from straining or pulling muscles in the future. You can even benefit by doing a cranial massage because the neck and head are intertwined.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be effective for alleviating neck pain. This is a treatment that involves inserting extremely thin needles in the skin. It works by unblocking the energy flow in the body. You may have to use acupuncture a few times before you get relief.

Choose a Neck-Supporting Chair

Maintaining good posture is one of the keys to preventing neck pain. If you sit down all day, then you will need to use a neck-supporting chair. You can also use a headrest in your car or the recliner.

See a Chiropractor

If none of the aforementioned back pain treatmentswork, then it is a good idea to see a chiropractor. This treatment involves manually adjusting your spine. One of the ways that you can find a chiropractor is to get a referral from family members and friends. There are many chiropractors out there, so the best way to find one is to get a referral.

Neck pain is not something that you have to live with. You can get rid of the pain by getting acupuncture or a massage. You can also do Pilates or use a neck-supporting chair. Staying hydrated is another way that you can fight neck pain. Additionally, you will need to see a chiropractor if home treatment does not work.
