Expecting mothers have many activities that they can turn to for exercise while pregnant. Just because a woman is pregnant, does not mean that she should neglect daily exercise. We understand that mobility and endurance can be impacted by pregnancy, but any attempt at exercising is better than no exercise at all. It is not only beneficial for mom, but the baby will benefit from it too. Consider these five exercises that you can do while pregnant.
1. Start Taking Yoga or Other Mindfulness Classes.
Many yoga studios and wellness classes can be found in most areas. These classes offer all kinds of exercises that not only benefit your body, but that also benefit your overall physical and mental health. Exercise your body and your mind by taking yoga, tai chi or any other light activity that makes you stretch more and focus on clarity. These exercises will also help you prepare for labor, and they will come in handy during delivery.
2. Begin the Day or Unwind the Day with A Daily Walk.
Briskly walking just 30 minutes a day will help you greatly. The are many benefits. Kick the morning off with a brisk walk on the beach or end the day with a walk through the neighborhood or around the community track. The exercise will help you maintain a healthy weight during pregnancy by controlling hunger more and burning calories. Plus, it helps with balance and stamina.
3. Start Swimming or Begin Water Aerobics Classes.
Water activities are a great way to put some low impact exercise into your daily routine. It will also help with body aches, inflammation and breathing. On top of that, you might just end up with a child that becomes the next Michael Phelps! Try looking up for example, pool builders in Santa Rosa Beach or wherever you are located to help with installing a pool at your home if you don't already have one. It will come in handy during and after pregnancy. If you don't have the space for a pool, ask friends to use theirs, join a gym with a pool, or get a membership to a community pool.
4. Head for the Stationary Cycle or Elliptical Machine.
Purchase or rent a stationary cycle or elliptical machine for your home, or be sure to have a gym membership with plenty of stationary cycles and elliptical machines available. Both options provide low impact, safe ways to exercise. You will burn calories, retain and build strength, do wonders for your mind and ready your body for delivery.
5. Hire A Personal Trainer.
It is not a specific exercise of course, but it is still a very good idea. A personal trainer will be able to help you pinpoint several exercises, not just one, that will be great for your pregnancy. Plus, it will help you stay motivated about exercising daily for mom and baby. A personal trainer will keep you focused on your exercise and healthy lifestyle goals. You will also learn a lot that you can take with you into post-pregnancy life.
There are other activities that pregnant women can turn to in relation to their goals for exercising during pregnancy. The aforementioned list is obviously not exclusive, however; when put to use any of the five suggestions provided will be a good idea for any expecting mom. It is not just you that will benefit from the exercise. Your unborn child will benefit too. On top of that, you are creating healthy lifestyle habits that can also be put to use after your child is born. Congratulations on your upcoming baby, and best wishes with your exercise goals!
