As we mentioned in previous articles, endometriosis growing somewhere else other than the endometrium also reacts to hormonal signals of the monthly menstrual cycle by building up tissue, breaking it, and eliminating it through the menstrual period. I. Definition
Some emmenagogues have been used to stimulate blood flow in the abdomen and to help bring on menstruation because of absence of period. II. How emmenagogues effect women with endometriosis

1. Thujone

2. Uterine contracting
These types of herbs such as dong quai, blue cohosh, and ginger encourage uterine contraction which helps to bring on blood flow caused by absence of menstruation, thereby reducing tension of blood and Qi stagnation in the abdomen resulting in lessening the menstrual cramps.

3. Estrogenic Properties
Taking these types may cause abnormal blood clotting, liver problem, and tumors.

4. Antispasmodic
These types of herbs such as black cohosh helps to relieve the uterine muscle tension that cause menstrual cramps during menstrual cycle for women with endometriosis.

5. Implantation inhibiting and uterus stimulation
Herbs such as cotton root, juniper root are used to prevent sperm to fertilize the egg by making the endometrium unsuitable for the growth of the embryo. They are taken before or after the unprotected fertilizing intercourse.
