As we mentioned in previous articles during the last stage of the menstrual cycle normally a layer of endometriosis lining in the inside of the uterus is expelled, known as menstruation blood but instead some of the endometriosis tissues grow somewhere in the body causing endometriosis. Endometriosis also reacts to hormonal signals of the monthly menstrual cycle, building up tissue, breaking it, and eliminating it through the menstrual period. In this article, we will discuss what is computed axial tomograghy (CT scanning or CAT) in endometriosis?

I. Definition
CT scanning is a X ray medical instrument that generates a three dimensional image of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X ray that rotate around a single axis.

II. Procedure
Normally, you are allowed to have your clothes on and is advised not to eat any solid food for 6 hours before the exam.

CT scanning is a safe, painless and little risk to patient taken it. As you lie on your back, a, X ray tube rotates around your body in a circle and taking multiple images and transferring these images of data to be reformatted in various planes or even as volumetric (3D) representations of structures. CT scanning is valuable to look at soft tissues, bone, blood vessels and provide information about size or shape of any abdominal abnormality such as endometrial adhesion, implants, tumors, fibroid, etc.

III. Risk
Some researchers say there are no risk because of minimum exposure for radiation, but the American Cancer Society's director of screening estimate that 2 percent of future cancers may be due to CT scanning.
