4 Causes of Blurry Vision and How to Save Your Sight

Most people don't consider their eye health until their eyes are in danger. Cataracts cloud an individual's natural lens. These cataracts are the leading cause of vision loss for people aged 40 and over. Diabetic eye degeneration or diabetic retinopathy is common in individuals with either type of diabetes. This eye disease occurs when an individual's high blood sugar causes their retina's eye blood vessels to become damaged. These blood vessels can swell, leak, or close and as these blood vessels change, they alter one's vision. Treatment for diabetic eye degeneration includes laser surgery, injections with Eylea, Lucentis, or Avastin, intravitreal steroids, and repairing a retinal detachment. 

Experiencing dry eyes may seem like a minor inconvenience, but for many, this symptom is a sign of something far more serious. The disorder known as dry eye occurs when the eye isn't able to produce a "tear film" to keep the eye hydrated. This results in the eye becoming irritated and can even lead to blurred vision and blindness in extreme scenarios. When treating dry eye, many doctors recommend "artificial tears" that are eye drops. Additionally, special ointments can be used to keep eyes moist during the night.
