The Common Alder-tree is very well known, it's stem is tree-like and full of branches, the bark is of a brown colour and is quite rough to the touch, with large round type shaped leaves a little clammy to the touch, especially the young leaves. The flowers are white and the berrries are black, usually flowering in April and May with seeds ripe in September. The distilled water from the leaves are very good for burns and treating inflammation especially for the breast. Fresh leaves if laid upon swellings are known to reduce imflammation, also leaves placed under bare feet in walking can refresh them. Leaves with morning dew on will rid fleas from a place infested with such.
