Rolfing; Everyone’s giving it a try.

Rolfing is nothing new but it is increasing in its popularity these days. Back in the 60's and 70's Rolfing was quite a common practice. What is Rolfing? Rolfing is a type of massage therapy that is focused on correcting alignment and posture through deep tissue massage.

Rolfing is not a relaxing type of massage in fact it's quite the opposite. The pressure applied to specific body points can be very uncomfortable, even painful. Back in the 60's Rolfing was not only used to relieve pain and improve posture but it was said to improve one's emotional state. Crying and screaming were common, even encouraged during the sessions. Today, Rolfing in only focused on the physical benefits from its practice.

Rolfing focuses on targeting the tight muscle areas through a deep tissue massage. A Rolfing therapist will use their hands to apply pressure to the connective tissue and muscles. Rolfing is very useful in helping improve the health of a person's myofascia. Myofasica is long thin connective tissue found between muscles and fat. Rolfing is excellent at realigning major joints of the body such as, the head and neck, spine, shoulder, pelvis and legs.

People in their fifties begin to feel the pressures of their body slowing down and sometimes shutting down because of this Rolfing is quite popular with middle aged people. Rolfing offers a natural way to help the body find strength by regaining balance and alignment, two variables that can cause one a great amount of pain and discomfort if they are not cohesive.

Yes, Rolfing is uncomfortable but so is your bad back, stiff neck, lopsided pelvis or frozen shoulder. In order to eliminate problems you will need to endure a little discomfort but almost everyone express more freedom, mobility immediately after a session.  To achieve optimal improvement of health multiple visits to a Rolfing practitioner will be needed.
