A Gel to prevent pregnancy

A Gel to prevent pregnancy

There has been a study on a new birth control in the form of a gel that could potentially replace taking the pill. The birth control is a combination of the hormones estrogen and progesterone in the form of a gel and is to be rubbed in small amounts on arms, legs or abdomen on a daily basis.

So far the studies have revealed that the contraceptive gel is as effective as the pill but has no signs of the side effects that are common with the pill; headaches, weight gain, moodiness and acne. The absence of side effects is perhaps connected to the type of progesterone called Nestorone. The gel is called Nestorone Estradial and may be a great alternative for women who have a difficult time remembering the daily pill. By just rubbing the gel on the body a women can be protected from pregnancy.

This gel is very promising but needs to be tested for a longer period of time to judge it's total effectiveness and if there are any other side effects that appear later on in the process.
