Research on Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes

Roger Walsh, M.D., PhD. of the University of California, Irvine's College of Medicine suggests that in order to avoid so many of today's diseases and conditions people should incorporate Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) into their life.

Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes are basic logical changes that can improve overall health and happiness. Rodger Walsh's research was published by the American Psychological Association. Walsh determined that adapting one's lifestyle to entertain Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes one would be better off. TLC's are a wide variety of things and have been proven to highly increase a person's health without the cost of pills and medication. Basically, TLC's are changes that improve life, so spend less time alone or watching TV or looking into a computer screen or sleeping and LIVE.

A therapeutic lifestyle change could be exercise. Exercising improves the quality of the human body, it brings joy through improved health, energy, self esteem and awareness and optimism. Exercise has been proven to help children focus in school, improve memory loss in elderly people and improve cognitive functions. Exercise has also been known to dramatically help people suffering with depression.

You are what you eat! Diet and nutrition is absolutely a TLC. By making small changes at the grocery store can alter a person's entire diet. Increase the intake of fruit and vegetables every day and receive improved health and less hunger. So much research supports the fact that a nutritious diet improves productivity in school and in the work force. Again, nutrition plays a major role in cognitive functions and can help deter symptoms of affective and schizophrenic disorders.

Recreation is a wonderful way to enhance health and improve social skills and build relationships.

Spending time in nature has been proved to improve the holistic health of an individual. It provides time to meditate, which is also a TLC that can greatly reduce stress and anxiety. Nature also has the ability to turn ones thoughts to spiritual matters and it has been proven that spirituality provides an individual with a foundation to rely upon. Spiritual fulfillment reduces stress, increases good deeds which improve the level of joy a person is experiencing.

For people who are currently filling their body with medication or suffering with conditions that affect their health and happiness they should consider Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes. What can change in their life to experience improved health and well being and ultimately their happiness? Embrace Therapeutic Lifestyle changes.
