New ideas and research has been carried out to determine that fingers of the hand can tell you what health conditions you might be more prone to developing. The answer lies in the length of your index finger and your ring finger.
The length of the index and ring finger are determined in the womb between weeks 8-11. During this time the amount of testosterone and oestrogen released has an impact on how these fingers grow.
The author of the Finger Ratio, Professor John Manning believes that understanding the impact of the length of fingers can help people make better life choices in order to avoid some health issues that are common with people with a longer ring or index finger. More research needs to be done to further the investigations into how valid the finger ratio is but for now this is what has been determined;
Longer ring finger
After measuring 2000 ring fingers it was determined that Osteoporosis was more common with people whose ring fingers were longer. Specifically Osteoporosis of the knee was most common and also hip and finger conditions were a frequent complaint from people with longer ring fingers.
Other health conditions that were determined to be related with people with longer ring fingers;
- Anorexia
- Frequent colds
- Autism
Longer Index finger
Those people whose index finger is the longest are more prone breast cancer and cervical cancer. It is believed by scientist that the oestrogen released in the womb during fetal development encourages later development of breast and cervical cancer. Other conditions are believed to be related to having a longer index finger;
- Heart disease
- Hayfever
- Asthma
- Allergies
- Bulimia
Measure your fingers and see if the research is true for you.
