This very pretty plant grows in England and is easily recognized by its numerous seed vessels. Gold of Pleasure is a flowing plant from the Brassicaceae family also known as Camellia or Camelina Sativa and cultivated as an oilseed crop in both Europe and North America.
This plant and effective herb, grows up to two feet in height with long pale green leaves and small white flowers, the seed vessels are short and round looking with a deep color.
Camelina is an approved feed supplement for cattle in the United States of America and also well used as an ingredient in some chicken feeds particularly in assisting with laying hens, also the increasing fatty acids in concentration are good for both breast and thigh meat for turkeys.
Because of its exceptionally high levels of omega-3 fatty acids which is not common in most vegetable sources, Gold of Pleasure is well suited to use as a cooking oil, it smells a little like almonds.
The flowers can be used as an excellent poultice for treating the inflammation of skin, an infusion of the fresh tops with a little sweetening of honey works wonderfully for easing sore throats and the ulceration of the mouth.
The oil, although quite rubefacient, is a pleasant, well tasted oil used for variety of applications. There are four main species to this plant including, Camellia Alyssum, Camellia Macrocarpa, Camellia Rumelica and Camellia Sativa.
