What is Camellia Sinensis Good For?

Camellia Sinensis is an evergreen that is grown in hot climates, prefers moist organic soil and is usually found at high elevations.  The plant when mature produces bright green leaves and little white flowers with yellow stamens, and can have several "flushes" a year.   The spring flush tends to make the finest teas.  There are some species this huge evergreen that can reach to heights of over 30 feet.

The Camellia sinensis is used to produce a variety of Chinese teas from the leaves and leaf including white tea, green tea, oolong, pu-erh tea and black tea, all which are harvested from this species, but are processed differently to attain different levels of oxidation.  The Twig tea, Kukicha is also harvested from Camellia sinensis, but is produced from the twigs and stems rather than leaves.

For centuries the leaves have been used in traditional Chinese medicine and other medical systems to treat asthma functioning primarily as a bronchodilator, this herb has also been used to treat angina pectoris, peripheral vascular disease, and coronary artery disease.

The tea extracts have become popular due to their notional antibacterial activity. The preservation of processed organic food and the treatment of persistent bacterial infections are particularly attracting interest from all over the world.  It has also been experienced that green tea leaves and extracts have shown to be very effective against bacteria responsible for bad breath.

Camellia sinensis originated in Southeast Asia, but today it is cultivated throughout the world. It has also been found to aid in a range of weight loss and slimming products like the dietary supplement Phenemine which is a completely safe blend of herbal ingredients that suppress the craving to eat, increases metabolism and burns fat fast.
