The survey specifically asked the participants what they had eaten in the last 24 hours. The survey revealed that those people that had consumed foods that contained omega 3 fatty acids had a 30% less chance of having gum disease. The study showed that just eating a feasible amount of Omega 3 fatty acids contributed to gum disease prevention. Eating a large amount of Omega 3 fatty acids do not result in more gum disease prevention or extra benefits. Close to 50% of adult's around the age of 30 have the signs of gingivitis by gum bleeding. As age increases the severity of the gum disease increases also. General teeth and gum hygiene and a healthy diet can help improve gum disease. Adding a small percentage of foods that contain omega 3 fatty acids into your daily diet can, as research suggests can provide protection to your gums.
