Lavender an Evergreen and Fragrant Shrub Native to Southern Europe

This beautiful colored high scented shrub has been used for many centuries for its delicate perfume and its amazing medicinal properties.

Lavender is an essential oil, the flowers are steam-distilled in fields where they are grown and the oil varies in color from dark yellow to a dark yellow-green color. French Lavender is considered to be better than English lavender because of it is richer in linalyl acetate.

Oil can be produced from both the flowers and the stalks, but the scent from the stalks are less potent than that from the flowers.

Lavender is best known for its unique healing properties for treating burns and generally is very good for most skins, it is very effective in reducing pain from severe skin burns and fast healing of the skin.

You can apply pure lavender oil directly onto the skin where the burn is and cover it with some gauze to allow the skin to breath, if you do not have the oil available, you can can use some lavender flowers from the garden and apply to the burn and again cover it with gauze.

Lavender has been found effective in treating a number of other skin problems, it is also understood that it can be used to take away toothache.
