Every year it seems a whole list of people have losing weight as their top priority but fail miserably. Just today, I read a blog post expressing a stay at home mom's desire to shift the excess weight gained from her most recent pregnancy. As I read it my heart throbbed because if she is like most people that desire will never be accomplished.
Let's change statistics and make sure this year you actually lose weight. How? Be realistic. So often people make unrealistic goals and then as there is no immediate success they give up quickly without little effort. Ok, you want to lose weight; great! But why? If you can really examine the "why" behind the desire then you might develop more urgency and determination to succeed. Perhaps you are unhealthy. Perhaps your unhealthy lifestyle is preventing you from being an active parent, fulfilling your job, maybe its preventing you from reaching other life goals. Maybe your unhealthy weight is causing you to have diseases and health complications that may be threatening your life.
Now you know why losing weight is so important there are three steps to success.
Step one: You Can. Realize that you are indeed capable of losing weight, people have done it before you and people will continue to do it whether you are or not. By understanding that your body is capable of exercise, of eating less, of receiving a healthy amount of sleep you will be more likely to succeed.
Step two: You Will. You need determination to succeed in weight loss. You must be determined. Tell people about your goal; invite others to join you on your quest to a healthier lifestyle. Blog about your weight loss ambition, ask for advice and motivation. Commit yourself to yourself and to those around you that you will lose the weight.
Step Three: You ARE what you desire. Become what you want to be, start losing weight. Change your habits NOW! Exercise today. Don't eat another cookie. Change. Change is challenging and requires great effort but with consistency you can change your life so that you lose weight and reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
In order to truly succeed you need a support group whether it be a family member, a group, a trainer, a friend whoever it is you need support. You need support for when you want o give you to tell you that you can do it.
